Nayan Hajratwala was the very first recipient of the Dharma Award in 1984. He took over as President of NAHA in 2015.

Nayan is the owner of Chikli Consulting. A Lean/Agile Coach with over 15 years of hands-on experience delivering software, he has significant programming experience and is a deep technologist always exploring new languages and ideas. His specialties include training software teams to increase their productivity and decrease their time-to-market while improving the quality of their product.

Nayan has been involved in the organizing committees for the Agile 2009-2016 conferences and is a speaker at many user groups and conferences in the Midwest. He is also on the Board of Directors for Southeast Michigan’s Agile & Beyond conference.

Nayan currently lives in Saline, Michigan with his three daughters (Zoë, Ava & Téa), his dog (Pearl), cat (Docé), and chickens (Bartleby, Honey, Greg).

Bhupendra R. Hajratwala, Ph.D. is the founder of the North American Hindu Association, the only non-sectarian Hindu organization in the world.

It is the only organization approved by both the Boys Scouts of American and the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. for awarding Hindu religious awards to scouts.

He authored Dharma and Karma workbooks for scouts, their mentors, and their counselors. He contributes articles on Hinduism and presents talks and discourses on Upanishads and Bhagawad Geeta. With his wife, Bhanu, he coauthored Our Kshatriya Samskara – I. Simant. He has authored a children’s book, “My Dada’s book of Karma,” for grades 1 to 5 and Jai Hanuman Coloring Book. His most recent publication ‘Eeshopanishad’ received excellent reviews.  The ‘Coin of Happiness’ has been an all time popular book for giving gift.

Dr. Hajratwala is a retired professor of pharmacy (B.Pharm. 1962 Gujarat University, India; M.S. 1965 University of Colorado, USA; and Ph.D. 1970 University of Iowa, USA) and an author of over 100 scientific research and review papers and two laboratory workbooks. He lives with his wife in California.
